Siming District Youth Palace

Fancy Design

Short description

The key project of Siming District Youth Palace is located in the old urban area of Xiamen, with a total investment of nearly RMB 370 million. After being fully put into use, it will further improve the infrastructure such as social education and medical care in Xiagang Area. It is a provincial key social undertaking project in Xiamen City.
The project is located on the south side of the intersection between Siming South Road and Chenggong Avenue, adjacent to famous scenic spots such as Overseas Chinese Museum, Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen University, Shapowei, Xiamen World Trade Center Twin Towers and China Children's Art Museum. It has a strong cultural atmosphere and remarkable location advantages.
The theatre stands out as a radiant space within the city, embodying the vibrant essence of urban vitality. The design team identified and extracted the landscape imagery of Xiamen, a coastal city, seamlessly translating elements like seashells, waves, beaches, and starry skies into the indoor space through design language.
The venue is accentuated with a blue and white color scheme, reflecting the oceanic theme. The audience seating undulates like waves, floating amidst artistry. The central ceiling, taking into account theatre lighting and acoustics, features a shell-inspired design complemented by scattered star-like light sources, ensuring even distribution of sound reflection and illumination across the audience area. The interior walls, adorned with glossy perforated sound-absorbing panels, simulate a sandy beach texture, extending the natural elements visually and tactilely throughout the space.
