Short description

I have been an architectural photographer for six years since transitioning from working as an architect. I owe my short yet fortuitous photography career journey to this set of four images. In the winter of 2009, I went on a personal trip to encounter Peter Zumthor's work in the Swiss Alps. His design fundamentals appealed to me: craftsmanship, honouring local natural materials and diffusing natural light to influence the atmosphere of space. I recorded my experience through the usual artistic mediums akin to any architecture student on the road: descriptive texts, sketches, rubbings, and photographs. Discovering the power of photography as a communicative medium was an awakening. The action of photographing was good fun, though reviewing the images when I arrived back home profoundly affected me. The sequence of atmospheric photographs recounted the story of my architectural experience. Subsequently, I could also share this experience effortlessly with others through photography.
