Video short description
First of all, this video production intended to preserve for future memory the last days of this industrial unit in the format for which it was initially built. On the other hand, it is a tribute to the entire history of the place and the people who passed by for several decades. It is an ode to the soul of this iconic 20th-century space, which is ready to say goodbye to its old soul and start a new chapter. It is from this farewell that SPARK Matosinhos is born! Designed in an integrated way, in a total area of about 18 thousand square meters, SPARK Matosinhos reflects the concept idealized for this development: a more intelligent building aimed at the people who occupy it and that, simultaneously, is connected with the planet. Rehabilitation, technology, community, connection and nature are the inspiring pillars of this project, signed by the Portuguese architecture office Paulo Merlini Architects. This place brings to the future the inspiration and soul of the past, of what was once one of the region's symbols. It promises to be a shelter for innovative, more intelligent, more sustainable and more impactful ways of doing things. We will add stories of many others who have already lived in this building. SPARK Matosinhos seeks to be a meeting point for people, ideas, businesses, architecture, and nature, promoted by the Castro Group, while keeping the central architectural icon alive and its strengths and characteristics. This project focuses on one of the first industrial units of the company Lactogal, having its construction started in 1964 and completed in 1967. The factory unit was used to produce and store milk, discontinued in 2009.
