Tempo
IDEIA1
Short description
The right place, at the right time. In Tempo, the sense of community is enhanced, encouraging exchanging and coexisting. This design represents the future of work, networking, and urban life. Through architecture, we connect individuals and work—our daily activity happens with lightness and fluidity.
The story of Tempo begins along with the neighborhood: located in Parque Una Uberlândia, this building emerges in a planned neighborhood inspired by the best global urban practices. Occupying a privileged position at the neighborhood's main access, it creates connections with three other future buildings and the neighborhood’s Shared Street. We aimed to enhance all premises set by the urban design and the masterplant, now with an architectural perspective. The enhancement of open spaces, social interaction, urban vitality, and the interaction between people and architecture are also goals of this design.
The project's volumes propose a transition of scales. As being a tall building, it's crucial to carefully consider its impact on the surroundings and pedestrians. Therefore, as a strategy, we divided the volume into three parts: A lower 4-story base performing what is called the "Eyes on the street," a concept widely known from Jane Jacobs in her book "The Death and Life of Great American Cities." This concept proposes a close relationship between those inside the building and those passing by on the street, providing direct visual connection and increased safety for pedestrians in the neighborhood.
Permeability is another point that reinforces the neighborhood concepts. Starting from the premise of bringing vitality to the interior of the block, Tempo's ground floor interacts both with the Shared Street and with its own interior. Both shops and the building's entrance are placed across this floor to create a fluid path. Vegetation plays a leading role, aiming to establish a relationship with the adjacent park.
On the 5th floor, another landmark of the building is placed, connecting the corporate and commercial floors. This floor hosts all user support facilities and a large open terrace, enhancing social interaction.
On the upper floors, the commercial tower characterizes the project's third phase. Tempo hosts spaces that connect corporate models with the future of work. By being a commercial building, we started from a rigorous modular rationality where most columns are outside the building and part of the façade composition. This approach made possible an integration between private units and product flexibility, satisfying a wide range of users. This phase floorplans repeat the formal strategy of the lower floors on a smaller scale, providing park views from all units, even those not directly facing it. The perfect balance between work and quality.
The same rigor applies to the facade composition. The exposed concrete serves as the structure, contributing to the building's aesthetic. Warmer-toned metalwork contrasts with the concrete,, referring to the colors of the Cerrado, region where the project is located, highlighting key points of the building. Tempo effectively balances the organic aspects of urban interactions and human connections with the rationality of an efficient, intelligent design conceived for people.
