Juntion House – Sales Centre
Dialogue 38 INC.
Project description
The approach to the sales gallery was designed to create a layered journey from the street to the built environment indoors. Painting the brick of the sales gallery white allows for application of the Junction House brand without compromising the integrity of the original structure. At street level, the entrance to the sales gallery welcomes visitors with a floodlit white-box accented by the Junction House logo, providing further charm for onlookers. Neon letters demand attention by local traffic, illuminating the building from a distance. A custom metal a-frame, boasting the Junction House logo pays homage to the industrial past of the Junction. Vinyl graphics welcome this historic building into the modern age. In collaboration with typographic artist Ben Johnston, a mural was developed overtop of the brick on the side of the building to integrate this new residence within the community. The texture of the brick building adds historic character to the modern mural and neon art, softening the transition of this residence into the surrounding community. The billboard welcomes those entering and waves farewell to those exiting the Junction. The Junction neighbourhood is unique in its appreciation to design and its subtle nuances. To embrace this appreciation, the sales gallery was executed to echo a curated exhibition space. Utilizing the grand scale of the raw building, large-scale display panels were constructed to frame the entryway. Using oversized typography and accompanying imagery, an experience was crafted that mimicked that of a modern art gallery. This experience was carried through the remainder of the space, using diaglogue38’s interior design to guide purchasers through the gallery. The unfinished ceiling, original building fixtures, and exposed concrete flooring were deliberate design decisions, purposefully juxtaposing the past with the future. Moving further indoors, a white brick wall wraps the exterior of the model suite, showcasing the fine Canadian materials and craftsmanship that will be featured in the final product. Delicate pin letters construct the Junction House logotype on top of this brick, balancing historical materiality with contemporary design. Fully integrated now into the model suite, one will note the soft subtle textures and layers of lighting that create a warm, but functional space. Hip to the surrounding neighbourhood but with ties to the historic background, the suite portrays an edgy elegance that defines itself upon arrival.
