Short description

Moya Design Partners (MOYA) opened its doors five years ago with the intention and mission to become a reference in quality, client satisfaction, and inclusiveness. When we founded the company, we wanted to bring in diverse points of view, perspectives, and experiences because we envisioned a design firm that truly understood people’s and communities’ needs. A group of designers that were willing to listen and truly involved in client- and community-first design.

After five years, we are well on our way to achieving that. We have grown strategically around typologies where we can leave a mark as designers and effect positive change as community members. Back in 2017, we started the design of a 42-units 100% affordable housing building with a permanent supportive element in DC: Diane’s House. We also embarked on the design of an innovative child-care center in Silver Springs Maryland, for CentroNia.

Fast forward five years, we oversee the design and construction of over 3000 housing units, 60% affordable at different levels. These include the recently completed The Bridge at MLK Jr Avenue, and the phased design of over a thousand housing units for the North Capitol redevelopment project in DC. We have also delivered landmark educational projects like renovating the Historic Randle Highlands Early Learning Center in DC. We managed to grow sustainably while keeping our core values and our mission.

As a young firm, crossing the five-year threshold on a positive pattern is essential, but what makes us proud is how we have done it: through collaboration with similar-minded firms and the communities we serve. At MOYA, we will continue embracing diversity and community service as part of our mission.
