Section Project

Kanisavaran Office and Roshanak Tehrani Design Studio

Short description

The starting point of this process was from the plan to the section. Crossing through the section and creating an opportunity for spatial connection with the plan. Creating a space that encourages the audience to pause and continuously explore, transforming the horizontal dialogue between object and subject into a vertical one. Here, the layers started from the sections and transformed into the main form of the space in the plan, the coordination of these two helped to create a cohesive whole that represents the building in the vicinity of the crowded, sculptural, free, and independent-shaped.
Sections inherently express the shaping layers that we arbitrarily named in the design process as Streets. Streets in this design are metaphorical representations of old market alleys, and here they help to distinguish spaces and create new perspectives for the audience. These central linear layers also bring about linear axes that, in conjunction with various height codes, provide the groundwork for creating quality spaces and unconventional perspectives in similar spaces.
Attention to human scale is another characteristic of this project, which, considering human proportions, helps to ensure that the space and dimensions are not in conflict with humans and, in other words, are completely in harmony with human dimensions and proportions.
