There is so much careful thought and consideration that goes into each and every piece of architecture that defines our lives, and behind that, is an architect who choreographed that exact experience, the story of the space so to speak. Brodie’s job has always been to capture and communicate that story in a way that is visceral and emotional, so that everyone can begin to understand the importance of the built environment.
Capturing the space is but one element in creating a powerful film. Brodie is also a master at teasing out the finer details in the story behind the architecture from the designers themselves and the people that occupy it. Whether he is interviewing Chicago’s Planning Commissioner on a vacant lot redevelopment designed by LJC, or a project designer that has never been in front of a camera before. He dances through the interview in such a way that pulls out the best from each interviewee allowing him to create that much stronger of a story.
The films he creates are not an artistic expression of himself, but rather a reflection of what good design does for the community around it and the world it lives in.
