There is a need for a humble, friendly space, where one feels safe and rejuvenated after witnessing an unfortunate event. Through the use of suitable design and functionality, we created a healing and nurturing atmosphere, here at Demetres Danforth. An environment where the guests will enjoy their premium desserts in an upscale yet casual atmosphere that speaks to quality time. Starting with the facade, we wanted to catch the attention of the passersby using movement and transparency, creating an illusion- like effect, an intense style with a diverse shift of colors upon looking at it from different angles. An enticing feeling. Plant and wildlife motifs cover the walls and mirrors, forming a play on illusions. Frothy pastel seating intersects with stark bold lines of millwork that give an air of playfulness with a grown-up approach. Color-changing lights on feature walls allow the owner to set the overall mood of the cafe, while warm glowing orb pendants set the tone for couples sharing an intimate moment. Delicately textured clouds and silver bird mobiles fly in groups above the diners. A soft little piece of beauty and harmony within the boundaries of simplicity. There’s a sense of play on the back wall where the dessert is prepared, using bold lines with LED strip lighting can change the color of the wall while pink intensifying a finished look. Once we added in all the new elements, the entire cafe looked completely transformed into a refreshing environment.
