Four Seasons Huyin School – Zhuhai

PT Architecture Design (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.

Short description

The project is located in a new development zone, Jinwan Area, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province. It is positioned as a 36-class primary school with total floor area of 27200 m2. The design aims to explore the diverse forms of campus space, and to achieve the goal of "educating people by space".
In terms of space, the school itself is a "book", and at the same time, the school should have a place that can directly strike the soul and make it memorable, and become the unique memory of the students. The project focuses on the creation of three types of cultural spaces, namely the "knowledge terrace", "spiritual courtyard" and "humanities window".
1. "Knowledge Terrace"
The terrace landscape is taken from the falling layer by layer in the countryside of China, signifying the traditional virtue of pursuing knowledge and studying upward by climbing higher levels. In the project, the teaching building sets up a layer-by-floor active setback on the side of the playground, which extends the sports field landscape at the three-dimensional level. It is not only the central traffic corridor of the building, but also a free platform to release children's nature, becoming a vibrant place for visual interaction, fun exchange and study sharing between students.
2. "Spiritual Courtyard"
Originating from the sacred temple-type space in the west, the center of the teaching building are three spiritual courtyards. The surrounding colonnade constitutes the classical etiquette order. The traffic volume facing the end end has a circular geometric motif as the gathering point of sight. It is a hall of education, but also a temple of the humanities. With the sky as the top, the floor and the seat, it becomes a campus spiritual space that can trigger deep thought and awe. In daily circumstances, small ceremonies, outdoor performances, movies and other ceremonial activities can be held here.
3. "Humanities Window"
In order to meet the needs of the future education concept, the campus should pay attention to the design of "changeable space", creating a unified and symbolic building image at the interface of the campus and the city. The "hole-like" space composed of open stairs, platform, library and so on, on the one hand, can meet the needs of natural ventilation under the unique climate conditions, on the other hand, can form a number of open "undefined" teaching space, providing the campus space for the change of the future education concept.
