Greatword Interior Design Office

Great Word Interior Decoration Co.Ltd.

Short description

The Lyu-Chuan Canal runs through the old districts of Taichung, attracting the attention of wanderers. This is where Greatword Interior Design has chosen to set up shop, with the hopes that an office space here can achieve symbiosis with the environment and will be characterized by sincerity, refinement, and openness.
The aged building, hidden in a riverside alley, retains its beige mosaic exterior. The addition of new terrazzo and marble creates tonal contrasts that integrate new and old materials into a unified design.
At the entrance, rippled glass within a metal framework separates the reception area from the working area, defining boundaries that extend and open up the space. The floors are the original beige marble framed with concrete to delineate spatial attributes.
The interior is dominated by a white color scheme, complemented by gray paint and beige mosaic tiles and stone materials, giving the rooms a sense of harmony. Windowsills have been lowered to expand a view of the front and back gardens, bringing the outdoor plants closer to create a relaxing and stress-relieving office space.
A metal balcony protruding from the conference room extends the environment’s spatial boundaries, allowing those in the conference space to relax and admire the verdant gardens and riverbanks and to breathe in the natural fresh air.
The old building’s renovation, which embeds modern designs and retains the original materials, allows a seamless marriage between old and new. Marks of history have been preserved using environmental features and the blending of natural elements with a modern vocabulary, thus imbuing the building and office life with new vitality.

Design features
1.Semiopen metal and glass partitions define and extend the space, creating a sense of openness.
2.The preservation of some of the original marble floors echo the exterior walls and retain the memory of the old building.
3.The washroom now has curved walls and beige-toned paint, mosaic tiles, and terrazzo flooring, along with appropriate sanitary equipment, creating a warm and soothing ambience.
4.The overall space is based on a white color scheme, and the central island lounge area is designed in a gray tone, highlighting the distinct identity of the different functional zones.
5.The windows were lowered to better incorporate the lush greenery in the front and rear courtyards, allowing the natural environment to create a sense of openness and comfort.
