house BRAS
DDM Architectuur
Project description
This villa sits on an abandoned suburban plot amid lush greens. Its meandering plan and column-free openings allow daylight to penetrate at all times, while offering unobstructed views to the landscape. The main zones -living, resting and wellness- are physically and visually connected with glazed passages along boxes covered in dark larch veneer. These form the supporting structure for the roof that covers the open floorplan and include more separable functions. To underline the monolithic character of the house all five facades are clad with natural stone slabs of three different sizes, arranged in a directionless Roman pattern so that roof and facades merge together and blend into the landscape like a stone in the forest. Rough stepping stones physically connect the house to the site.
