Short description

"SA" is a design company co-founded by Alireza Emtiaz and Saqar Kahkdan in Shiraz, IRAN. In a brief introduction, Sa designs and manufactures sculptural furniture inspired by the heritage of Persian calligraphy.

This commission is about capturing the interior of the living environment of the art figure (Parvis Tanavoli). the subject of the commission was the white armchair designed by Sa company. It is noticeable that the armchair is analogous to the sculptural pieces inside the place, and at first glance reminds Mr. Tanavoli's artworks. The aim of the photographer was to unite the product with the artistic environment and context.

As in other furniture photo sessions, the ambient light is in control while the mood of the scene was enhanced by the careful use of studio flashes. Because of highly valued artworks, the photographer was prohibited from making any changes to the arrangement or staging. However, he was authorized to alter the armchair for the benefit of the visual composition.

Photographing the furniture in a client's home is a normal assignment. But Mr. Tanavoli's house has the attractions of a museum rather than an ordinary home. Therefore, it was essential to draw the viewer's eye away from the artworks with the help of the medium angle shots, targeted lighting, and post-production. It is an effort to maintain visual consistency between the images. In some cases, the armchair is near the window and in others, it is far away from it.

The Tanavoli family Shelters so many homeless cats and dogs in one place. During the session, the animals went for walks or posed for the camera because they wanted to express themselves. They gave the work a touch of transience and lifestyle.
