Picos Collection

REPUBLIC OF II BY IV

Short description

Passed down through generations in Colombia, two distinct and intricate hand-crafted methods come together for the first time in the making of the Picos Collection. The collection features a conical clay base, a design element reminiscent of the Mavecure (Cerros de Mavecure) mountains, and is made from a rich, natural black clay native to the Tolima region. The clay is built up by hand and dried for up to five days before adding the next layer, ensuring durability and a refined aesthetic. The hand-woven tabletops are a masterpiece of traditional (Guacamayas) weaving techniques, crafted from natural (fique/Agave) fibre sourced from the Boyacá region. The distinct colouration is created through the use of natural dyes such as nuts, fruits and plants. This traditional weaving technique not only highlights the skill of local craftspeople but also infuses each piece with a unique narrative of cultural heritage.

In essence, the Picos Collection is a celebration of Colombia's diverse artistic legacy and natural beauty. Each piece represents the timeless traditions of Colombian craftsmanship, bringing a touch of the country's rich cultural heritage into contemporary interiors, preserving these sustainable crafts for generations to come.
