Short description
The idea of designing an architectural structure from Tetris blocks named Tetrominos first came to my mind in 2008 and I made my first sketch that year. Today, I designed this concept project to realize my idea.
During the design phase, Tetromino's forms, colors and movement directions were adhered to.
The best thing about Tetrominos is that there are many design alternatives. Like Tetris game, I was free to place the blocks as I wanted but also there are some restrictions to consider. In the game the completed lines disappear, in the design phase that feature of the game was considered. As a result the building’s block masses don’t complete a line not to get disappeared and secondly the building plot area consists of ten boxes side by side likewise the base of game area. It was a great challange to place the 7 Tetrominos by obeying these rules of game and also not using the same Tetrominos block repeatedly. The design was realized by using each block just once.
To create a modern design, the tetrominos blocks were placed back and forth.
The blocks are given different functions. O Block, children's center, S Block shopping, museum and office lobby, L Block office block, T Block CEO and her/his employees, I Block office block, J Block office and lobby, Z Block, Café, Restaurante with 4-storey, terrace and balcony.
26,250 m2 total construction area. The highest block (I BLOCK) is 78.80 mt high. The building plot area is 160 mt X 45 mt. Clean Floor Height: 3.10 mt. All Tetrominos consist of four parts. The dimensions of this one piece in the project are H16xW16xD32 mt.
A video of the Tetris game was planned to be projected onto the façade of O Block (Children's Centre). In this block, a children's center has been thought where children can play with model Tetris blocks, video games and do various activities.
I set up a Tetris museum in S Block with Tetris history and old game consoles. In small kiosks, the brand can sell souvenirs of Tetris and other video games, mascots, retro game consoles, etc.
