OLO Armchair

Overview
OLO is defined by the dichotomy between the pure, taut lines of its silhouette and the surprising suppleness of its seat.
The armchair holds a hidden surprise in its full-grain leather, preserved firm and thick. Thanks to meticulous work in its design, the leather adapts to the shapes and movements of the body that settles into it. The backrest, subtly extending upwards, adds a touch of elegance while adapting to various postures and body types, before returning to its original form once the seat is vacated.
“Those familiar with my work will recognize in this chair my obsessions with the interplay of fullness and emptiness, as well as the delicate balance of proportions. Subtle innovation, focused on comfort with the least amount of material possible, without foam or artifice.” Patrick Jouin
This search for comfort through an economy of means guided the construction of OLO. To create a clean, streamlined look, a sheet of leather is laid over an iridescent steel tube structure. The structure fades into the background, allowing the leather to take center stage.
This apparent simplicity and illusion of lightness are made possible through complex craftsmanship. Joints and fastenings have been minimized to enhance the airy impression of the chair, while the precise construction allows the leather itself to provide both support and flexibility.
Without foam or artifice, OLO relies on the intrinsic qualities of its materials and the precision of its design. Preserved in its raw, noble state, the vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather develops a patina over time, gradually shaped by light and use.
Through the delicate balance between fullness and emptiness, rigidity and suppleness, OLO seeks to achieve comfort with the least amount of material possible. Its seemingly simple silhouette conceals meticulous design and craftsmanship, allowing material, structure and use to define the object.
