Terms & Conditions
About LOOP Design Awards
These Terms & Conditions govern access to and use of the LOOP Design Awards website, platform and related services, including registration, project submission, participation in LOOP Design Awards editions, purchases and other services made available through the platform.
By creating an account, purchasing a product or service, or submitting an entry, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to the Privacy Policy.
LOOP Design Awards is an international awards programme for architecture, design and the built environment.
Edition-specific information, including available disciplines, categories, entry periods, deadlines, fees and optional services, is published on the relevant edition pages of the LOOP website.
Accounts and Organizations
Users may be required to create an account to access certain LOOP services.
You are responsible for providing accurate information and for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials.
Where an account is used on behalf of a studio, company, organization or other entity, you confirm that you are authorized to act on its behalf.
Organizations may allow multiple authorized members to collaborate on projects and submissions. Account and organization access must not be used to obtain unauthorized access to another participant's projects, submissions or information.
LOOP reserves the right to suspend or restrict accounts where there is reasonable evidence of misuse, unauthorized access, fraud or a material breach of these Terms.
Participation and Eligibility
LOOP Design Awards is open internationally to eligible professionals, studios, organizations and other participants working within the disciplines and categories offered for each edition.
Specific eligibility requirements may vary between disciplines, categories and editions.
The categories, eligibility requirements and submission conditions displayed for the relevant edition at the time of entry apply to that submission.
Participants are responsible for determining that their project and submission meet the applicable eligibility requirements before submitting an entry.
LOOP may request additional information where necessary to verify eligibility.
Submissions
Projects and submissions
Projects are created and managed through the LOOP online platform.
A project may be submitted to one or more eligible categories where the edition permits this. Each category submission constitutes a separate entry and may require a separate nomination credit.
Participants are responsible for ensuring that all submitted information is accurate, complete and properly credited.
LOOP may correct obvious administrative errors or, where appropriate, request clarification or corrections from the participant.
Where necessary to preserve the integrity of the awards, LOOP may move a submission to a more appropriate category. Where reasonably practicable, the participant will be informed of a material category change.
Submission deadlines and entry periods are displayed on the relevant edition page.
Submission changes
Participants may edit submissions according to the editing rules displayed on the LOOP platform.
The platform may restrict direct editing after a specified period or once the evaluation process has begun.
Where direct editing is no longer available, participants may request a correction through the platform.
LOOP may refuse changes that would materially alter an entry after the relevant evaluation process has begun or concluded.
Withdrawals
Participants may withdraw an entry where the platform provides that option.
Withdrawal does not automatically restore a nomination credit or create a right to a refund.
A withdrawn entry will no longer participate in the applicable awards process unless LOOP expressly agrees otherwise.
Unacceptable material and disqualification
LOOP may reject or disqualify submissions that:
- do not satisfy applicable eligibility requirements;
- contain materially false or misleading information;
- infringe intellectual property or other third-party rights;
- contain unlawful, defamatory, hateful or seriously offensive material;
- manipulate or attempt to interfere with the awards or voting process;
- breach these Terms; or
- otherwise compromise the integrity of LOOP Design Awards.
Where reasonably practicable, LOOP may contact the participant before disqualification.
However, LOOP may act immediately where necessary to protect participants, third parties, the platform or the integrity of the awards.
Refund eligibility following disqualification depends on the circumstances and applicable refund conditions. Disqualification resulting from a participant's breach of these Terms does not automatically create a right to a refund.
Credits, Payments and Services
Nomination credits and entry packs
Entry Packs provide nomination credits that may be used to submit eligible entries to the edition for which they were purchased.
The number of credits, price and applicable entry period are shown before purchase.
Unless LOOP expressly states otherwise, credits are edition-specific and do not automatically transfer to another edition.
A nomination credit is considered used once it has been consumed by a valid submission in accordance with the platform rules.
Administrative or promotional credits may be subject to different conditions and may be non-refundable.
Any exceptional transfer or carry-forward of credits is at LOOP's discretion and does not create a general right to transfer credits between editions.
Fees and payments
Current fees are displayed on the relevant edition and checkout pages.
Prices may vary according to the entry period, number of nomination credits or service selected.
The price presented and accepted at checkout applies to that transaction.
Where taxes are applicable, their treatment will be shown through the checkout process or associated payment documentation.
Payment processing may be provided by an external payment provider or Merchant of Record. Where applicable, that provider may issue the fiscal receipt, invoice or other legally required payment documentation.
A LOOP order confirmation or order summary is not a fiscal invoice unless it expressly states otherwise.
Premium features and optional services
LOOP may offer optional services or Premium Features associated with an eligible submission.
Availability, price and conditions are shown before purchase.
Premium Features do not influence jury scores or guarantee any award, recognition or result.
Where a Premium Feature depends on a particular stage of the awards programme, fulfilment may take place only when the relevant conditions are met.
Purchasing a Premium Feature does not alter the eligibility requirements applicable to the underlying submission.
Trophy pre-orders and trophies
LOOP may make physical trophies available to eligible awarded projects.
Where offered, participants may also be given the opportunity to pre-order a trophy before results are announced.
A trophy pre-order does not guarantee that a submission will receive an award or become eligible for a trophy.
If the submission does not receive a distinction eligible for the trophy, the applicable pre-order conditions and refund treatment will apply.
Information concerning trophy eligibility, pricing, production, delivery and any available options will be communicated through the relevant LOOP pages or ordering process.
LOOP does not guarantee delivery dates unless expressly confirmed as part of the applicable order.
Jury and Results
Jury and evaluation
Eligible entries are evaluated by the LOOP Design Awards jury in accordance with the evaluation framework applicable to the relevant edition.
Jurors may be selected from architecture, design and related creative and professional fields.
Entries are considered within the context of their submitted discipline and category and may be evaluated according to qualities relevant to that field and project.
LOOP may organize jury assignments, evaluation stages and decision procedures as required for the effective operation and integrity of the awards.
Jury deliberations, individual evaluations, scores, comments and voting records are confidential unless LOOP expressly makes particular information available as part of a published service or feature.
Participation does not guarantee an award or recognition.
Results and recognition
LOOP may award different forms of recognition according to the structure of the relevant edition.
Recognition may include, where applicable, distinctions such as Design of the Year, New Talent, People's Choice, Category Winner, Citation or Honourable Mention.
Not every recognition type is necessarily awarded in every discipline, category or edition.
LOOP does not guarantee a fixed number of winners or distinctions in any category unless expressly stated for that edition.
Published results constitute the official LOOP Design Awards results, subject to correction of genuine administrative or technical errors.
Copyright and Ownership
Copyright and ownership
Participants retain copyright and ownership of the projects, photographs, videos, drawings, texts and other materials they submit, subject to the rights of their respective authors and rights holders.
Submitting material to LOOP does not transfer ownership of that material to LOOP Design Awards.
By submitting content, the participant grants LOOP Design Awards a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, display, publish, communicate and adapt the submitted material as reasonably necessary for purposes directly connected with LOOP Design Awards. These purposes may include:
- operating and administering the awards;
- jury evaluation;
- publishing entries and results;
- the LOOP website and archive;
- social media and newsletters;
- press and communications;
- exhibitions;
- award-related editorial material;
- printed and digital publications; and
- promotion of LOOP Design Awards, its participants and recognised projects.
This licence does not authorize LOOP to sell the participant's project content as an independent creative work unrelated to LOOP Design Awards.
Third-party rights and permissions
The participant is responsible for ensuring that they have all rights, permissions, licences and authorizations necessary to submit the material and to grant LOOP the rights described in these Terms. This includes, where applicable, permission relating to:
- photography;
- video;
- architectural and design works;
- drawings and illustrations;
- written material;
- trademarks and brand names; and
- any other third-party copyrighted or protected material.
Submitting a project to LOOP does not itself establish that the participant owns the copyright in every element of the submission.
Participants must provide accurate authorship and photography credits.
If LOOP reasonably requests evidence of permission or ownership, the participant must provide appropriate information.
The participant is responsible for claims resulting from material submitted without the necessary rights or permissions, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Publication and archive
Entries receiving published recognition may remain available as part of the LOOP Design Awards public archive.
Public project pages may include submitted project information, credits, location, images, recognition and studio information.
Historical results and recognised projects may remain publicly accessible after the relevant edition has ended in order to maintain the integrity and continuity of the LOOP archive.
Corrections to factual information may be requested and will be considered where appropriate.
Refunds
Refund eligibility depends on the type of purchase and its fulfilment status.
For Entry Packs, refunds may be limited to nomination credits that remain unused and eligible for refund under the conditions applicable to the purchase. Credits already consumed by submissions are not refundable.
Administrative, promotional, transferred or carry-forward credits have no cash value and are not refundable unless LOOP expressly states otherwise.
For Premium Features, refund eligibility depends on whether fulfilment has started or been completed. A service that has already been performed or is in progress may not be eligible for an automatic refund.
Trophy and trophy pre-order refunds are subject to the conditions applicable to the relevant order and its fulfilment status.
Where a refund is approved, it will normally be made through the original payment method or payment provider.
Any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
Availability, Liability and Termination
Website and service availability
LOOP aims to maintain reliable access to its website and platform but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Services may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical failures, third-party services or circumstances outside LOOP's reasonable control.
Where a significant technical problem under LOOP's control materially affects an awards deadline, LOOP may take reasonable measures such as extending the relevant deadline.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LOOP Design Awards is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from use of the website, platform or awards services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
Participants are responsible for maintaining their own copies of submitted materials and should not rely on LOOP as their sole storage or backup service.
Suspension and termination
LOOP may suspend or terminate access to an account or service where there is a material breach of these Terms, fraud, misuse of the platform, security risk or interference with the awards process.
Where appropriate, LOOP will provide reasonable notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Termination does not automatically create a right to a refund and does not affect provisions that by their nature continue after termination, including intellectual property, publication rights, liability and historical award records.
Privacy and Data Protection
Personal information is handled in accordance with the LOOP Design Awards Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected, used, stored and otherwise processed in connection with accounts, submissions, transactions, communications and participation in LOOP Design Awards.
Please refer to the Privacy Policy.
Changes to These Terms
LOOP may update these Terms where necessary to reflect changes to the platform, awards programme, services, legal requirements or operational practices.
The current version and its effective date will be published on this page.
Where a change materially affects an existing paid service or active awards participation, LOOP will take reasonable steps to communicate the change where appropriate.
