PARC Autódromo
IDEIA1 · Pinhais - Brazil
Citation Winner 2026

Overview
The project reimagines 57 hectares of a decommissioned racetrack in Pinhais, a city in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, Brazil. This transformation turns one of the last large urban voids into a vibrant, complete, and energetic neighborhood. The design celebrates local memory and identity by preserving the original track layout, giving the new urban fabric a distinctive character.
At the core of the neighborhood lies an urban park, fostering a deep connection with nature. This green space serves as a central hub for leisure and community interaction, where families stroll, children play, and neighbors gather for events. Surrounding the park, a blend of single-family homes, multifamily buildings, and mixed-use developments integrates seamlessly with commercial and service areas, forming a thriving and inclusive community.
A shared street serves as the neighborhood's main axis, prioritizing pedestrians and creating a lively, active environment that extends the park's energy into the surrounding area. Restaurants, cafés, and shops line this vibrant hub, offering welcoming spaces for socialization and everyday activities. Between the park and the main street, a food market and a technology hub inspire innovation and collaboration, meeting the needs of modern lifestyles.
The design ensures optimal views of the park, while strategic building placements enhance sunlight exposure and natural ventilation. Special structures at key points emphasize the neighborhood’s dynamic layout, creating a balanced transition between bustling public areas and tranquil, private spaces.
By fostering diversity, innovation, and well-being, the project connects people to each other and to the environment. More than a revitalization, it honors the site’s history while shaping a future where life, work, and community flourish together.
