Overview

Located in Chaoyuan Village, Rizhao, Shandong Province, in the heart of a 10,000-acre tea plantation, the project was originally a completely abandoned natural village consisting of six deserted courtyards and a forest. The design respects the memory of the site, preserving the texture of the site, old trees are kept, the stone buildings are repaired which carries the memory of the site. And a new free-standing building is added among them.As a rural public building, the gray space formed by the building's large roof provides shade and rest for local farmers, providing public benefits for locals.

with a free-standing network of columns, forming an open and flowing space, with transparent glass that allows for an unobstructed view of the idyllic garden. Native trees have been retained and three atrium spaces are formed by curved glazing to bring in sunlight and air. In order to increase the experience of the building, the rooftop space is also fully utilized. This building is intended to be a flagship for the revitalization of the region's villages, and to stimulate the vitality of the countryside.
