Overview
On the hillside of Leblon, between mountain and sea, the space of the home opens broadly onto the landscape. Expansive glass surfaces bring interior and exterior closer together, transmitting light in an effort to heighten the experience of the inhabited space.
Solar screens filter the sunlight, creating different gradations throughout the day and establishing a subtle layer of imaginary boundaries. The path of the sun enters and moves through the space across the sand-toned palette of marble, which acts as a reflector of natural light. A reality created in parallel with the existing one.
The organization and zoning of the printed spaces give singular character to their sense of openness and visual continuity. Vertical planes and perforated elements either integrate or preserve the spaces, generating different degrees of transparency and paths of observation. The oculus, the architectural cutouts, and the monoliths inserted between spaces transform the passage of the gaze into different experiences, overlapping planes, lines, and compositions.
The design is marked by the encounter of particular geometries. The orthogonality of the planes and the horizontal lines of the louvers contrast with vertical elements, while the curved and sinuous forms found throughout the space, in the furniture and lighting objects, introduce rhythm to the composition. A composition of lines, planes, and curves that runs through the spaces.
The use of natural materials, expressed consistently across the sand-toned horizontal plane, explores materiality as an integrating element alongside the white palette of the vertical planes. Natural woods, stone, and light surfaces receive the light, becoming a quiet backdrop for the insertion of art and design pieces and reinforcing the presence of components with singular forms.
Vertical planes are used as transitions between different zones and as elements of dialogue. The architecture becomes an interior frame for its surroundings, exploring light and shadow, solids and voids, noise and silence. The nature of inhabiting as experience.
