Overview
Inspired by the swipe gesture on a phone, LAP AI turns the act of filtering countless apps into a spatial journey of narrowing choices. In an era of overwhelming options, many customers spend too long comparing devices without clarity. LAP AI uses online AI, expert consultation and long-term support to match each person with the right laptop, and the store translates this into guided circulation and staged decision-making.
LAP AI is a retail interior concept that translates the gesture of swiping into a curved, theatre-like customer journey. Zoning supports each decision stage from exploration to consultation and aftercare, while AI-assisted guidance helps match users with suitable devices. Calm lighting and durable materials shift tech retail from visual noise to long-term service and care.
Visitors enter and follow a compact, curved loop to view all devices in one sweep. The display sequence supports quick comparison, then naturally leads to a one-to-one consultation point where a sales specialist discusses needs and recommends suitable options. After selection, the same counter supports setup, guidance and aftercare, turning a small footprint into a clear, guided journey from browsing to personalised service.
Warm-white lighting unifies champagne-toned metal and neutral wood. Light is washed into hollow clear panels; the cavity reflects the champagne back wall and segmented cells pull it into fine threads that skim curved surfaces. The panels bend to follow the geometry, expressing a swipe-like motion. Semi-transparent layers and controlled reflections evoke a glossy screen. A silver central table uses diffused LEDs for demos; the LAP AI ring chandelier and circular spot track highlight displays.
Floor area is 23.5 sqm. Display capacity is up to 36 laptops. The layout uses a compact curved loop for quick browsing and comparison, and it naturally leads to a one-to-one consultation point and aftercare support. A central silver metal demo table integrates diffused LED task lighting to reveal product details without glare. A ceiling ring chandelier and track spotlights highlight the displays. Key materials include metalwork, metal laminate panels, frosted acrylic, PC hollow panels, curved plywood in tea tone, curved plywood in white, and a curved timber support structure.
This project investigates customer decision psychology in tech retail, focusing on choice overload, decision fatigue, and trust building. It studies how a service-led brand can translate its operating workflow into spatial strategy by mapping the journey from browsing to comparison, one-to-one consultation, and aftercare. Findings informed a swipe-inspired curved loop and a calm, screen-like lighting and material system to improve clarity, confidence, and brand value.
The key challenge was translating LAP AI's service-led operating model into a very small retail footprint while clearly expressing the brand's core idea: helping customers find the right device with trust and long-term support. The space had to communicate value beyond display, remain commercially workable, and feel calm and reliable. The design balances product visibility with one-to-one consultation and uses light and materials to create comfort and confidence.
