Mata do Paraíso Scout Park

Located in a forested area with uneven topography, the scout park developed by the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira responds to the lack of infrastructure for scouting activities.

Three buildings–two sanitary facilities and a washing area–are placed on a gentler slope, leaving most of the site for camping activities. An open-air amphitheater takes advantage of the natural terrain and landscape views. Defined by simplicity and synthesis, the architectural design reinforces the identity and functionality of the spaces, supporting the park’s role as a place for scouting and outdoor activities.

The requirements for cost containment, environmental and sustainable responsibility allowed a reflection on how to design simple constructions while ensuring their architectural quality and dignity.
