Platt Street Hotel by Fogarty Finger

Overview

We were engaged to design the interiors for a new boutique hotel on Platt Street, straddled between the Financial District and South Street Seaport in Manhattan. The program includes reception, self-check-in kiosks, bar, retail space anchored around a central lounge space, co-working, conference, fitness, and guest rooms.

Design influence originates from neighborhood context, mirroring nearby early Art Deco high rises with a strong vertical architectural language that rationalizes the double-height lobby, allowing a warm, monolithic backdrop to harmonize programming. Large-scale red marble terrazzo flooring, backlit fluted wood walls, and steel work for the canopy bar and staircase reflect cobblestone streets, antique brickwork, and industrial metalwork of the Seaport, informing public area detailing and textures with color palettes of limestone, deep green, crimson brick, and rust.

Efficient guest room layouts maximize space and functionality. Elements take cues from yacht interiors with integrated millwork, rounded corners, and reconfigurable storage with indirect, ambient lighting giving the illusion of openness and warmth.
