Overview
The Zone C hotel parcel of Weifeng Dongyu is conceived as a clear “dual-tower with linked podium” scheme that establishes a strong urban frontage and efficient mixed operations. Two 15-story hotel towers house Fairfield by Marriott and the planned Renaissance Hotel, while a two-story podium unifies shared public programs and places the Renaissance grand ballroom at the connective core as a high-energy civic event node. The façade is articulated through a deliberate sectional strategy: above Level 3, the towers adopt a vertical order as the primary language, while Levels 1–2 form a continuous transparent glass base. Select tower planes are subtly chamfered in plan—like a folding fan—to deepen shadow lines, and “gem-set” vertical curtain wall inserts bring refinement and identity. Glazing is structured by 1:2 proportioned exposed metal mullions, composed through mirrored bay sequencing to introduce variation within a disciplined rhythm; offset horizontal metal bands at roughly every three floors further enhance cadence and scale. Curtain wall placement aligns precisely with the centered floor-to-ceiling window of the standard guestroom module, balancing views, daylight, and year-round comfort in a northern climate through an approximately 50/50 solid-to-void expression. The transparent podium encourages visual flow and landscape permeability, directing the Fairfield lobby and breakfast venue toward a deep green courtyard view. A 59-meter-long, 5-meter-high cantilevered skylight canopy defines the primary arrival, integrating an 18-meter two-lane drop-off and framing a welcoming portico toward the future of the Jingyue district.
